Thank you so much for visiting our page and for your interest in our adoption journey. We will be adopting a beautiful, squishy baby through Gladney’s domestic infant adoption program. We do not know boy or girl at this point, as we are waiting to be chosen by an expectant mother. While we officially began the adoption process in December 2018, adoption has been on both of our hearts for many years.
God planted the seed of adopting in Shevin’s heart years ago while on a mission trip to Central America. She saw orphaned children begging on the streets and wanted to do something to help. Adopting wasn’t an option then, but the desire was sparked. Years later, while dating Corey, we talked about adoption and agreed we were both open to the possibility. After Jake was born, we discussed adoption again and began praying about it. A year later, we agreed that God was calling us to begin this beautiful, exciting, and challenging journey.
While this is our first personal experience with adoption, we have several church friends who have adopted domestically and internationally. One of Shevin’s cousins is adopted, and one of her best friends is a birth mother who recently attended her birth daughter’s high school graduation. Seeing these different perspectives of adoption encouraged us to answer God’s call in our own lives. We not only want to show love to a new baby, but also give hope to a woman who is probably going through a very challenging time and to show her she is loved and valued.
We are trusting in God to provide the funds for this adoption through the generosity of others. We have been blessed with a matching grant from the Karis Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. Any financial gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $3,000 and are tax-deductible.
Again, thank you for your interest in our story. If you are unable to help financially, please be in prayer for us, our adopted child, as well as the woman who will place her child into our hearts and lives. We are so excited to see what God has planned for everyone who is a part of this adoption.
