Ten years. That's how long we've known we would adopt again, and how long we've been waiting. We welcomed Harvest Joel into our family via adoption right after Christmas in 2011. The Lord impressed upon our hearts that we would adopt three children, a group of one and a group of two. We just didn't know there'd be such a long wait between the two.
Adopting HJ changed us. I remember standing at the kitchen sink, having just found out about him. "Lord," I prayed. "I don't know how to love a seven-year-old with Down syndrome."
"That's okay," Jesus said to my heart. "I do."
That was that. We put our names in the hat. We put him in the backseat of our car as our son a few weeks later.
He's expanded our hearts and transformed our family. We can't imagine US without HIM. We now have eight children, seven of which are biological. And we've been waiting to adopt again. And waiting. And waiting.
And then there was Nora.
Last April I had a dream in which I held this little baby in my arms. I looked into her eyes and bonded with her. I woke up knowing this was the child we were to adopt. Turns out my seven-year-old daughter had a dream about her too, as did my best friend. My best friend told me in her dream, the baby's name was Nora. We were shocked when we looked this name up and saw that it's short for Honora and means Honor, the name the Lord gave us for our future adopted child ten years ago.
A year and a half after that dream, we're finally homestudy approved and officially a waiting family. Once again, as was the case with Joel, we don't have all the upfront finances for this adoption. The Lord provided above and beyond for Joel's adoption. He used many different people from all over the country. Each one of them is part of every success Joel's had. Each person who gave has a reward from his life.
We will always be grateful for the many people who are part of Joel's story because they sowed into his adoption. Now, you have a chance to be part of this new adoption. A new story. A new blessing.
We've been blessed with two matching grants totaling $7,500. The average private adoption right now costs around $45,000. These grants have a chance to make a significant dent in that cost. Will you prayerfully consider partnering with us in this kingdom endeavor?
Many thanks and blessings,
Kevin and Sarah
