Adopting! Palodichuks plus one :)

Welcome to our journey!  This journey is one that we didn’t expect to be on!  Over the past number of months, we believe God has been nudging us toward adoption.  As we began to ponder adoption, a friend of mine made the comment that people don’t like to do hard things.  They like to be comfortable.  Matt and I realized we are like that.  We really like comfort!  And to be quite honest, this whole adoption process is hard and uncomfortable.  But God is growing us!  The Holy Spirit has helped turn our eyes toward Jesus and more deeply understand how He took our sin and painfully gave His life to save us from sin.  And were afraid to adopt because it would be hard and pull us out of our comfort zone?!  Time for some tough self-examination!

James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

If we love Jesus, we need to take what He says seriously.  We started paying attention to how God seemed to be leading us one step at a time toward adoption.  We realized that if He was leading us toward adoption, to NOT pursue adoption would be an act of disobedience.  Willful disobedience is not a state we want to be in!  While we are far from being like Jesus, we desire to honor Him and love Him through obedience.  We believe He will bless our obedience.

We are very grateful that Grand Meadow Lutheran Church has partnered with Lifesong For Orphans to offer us a $2,500 matching grant!  We are pursuing a domestic infant adoption through Mustard Seed Adoption Consultants.  They work with many different agencies and lawyers across the U.S.  While we have not yet been matched with an expectant mom, we could match at any time as we typically see multiple cases a week.  If we see a case that we feel God is leading us toward, we give the ok to present our family to expectant parents.  Presenting includes sharing with them a book of photos and information we made about our family.  Other families can share their books as well.  The expectant parents then get to decide which family they would like to be their child’s forever family.  Our match could be from any state and will most likely be quite some distance away (FL, TX, AZ, AR, etc.).  Another added cost is the weeks we will spend living out of state waiting for the “all clear” to come back to MN.  We estimate adoption and travel costs at around $40,000. We are trusting God for His provision as we know He can move mountains!

More than anything we covet your prayers!  Please pray for:

God’s leading toward and providing us with a match.

Unity in our marriage and family.

That we would show grace and love to the expectant parents and that they would come to know the grace and love of Jesus if they don’t already.
