We never actually had adoption in our hearts, and I feel that’s where God comes in, to shake us up and show us we are not in control of our future, but He is. We don’t know our plan, yet trusting Him is far more Beautiful than what we could ever imagine.
That brings me back to when we just had Zion and Ruthie. Z was 3 and Ru was 1. We saw the need that couples were having as they were trying to conceive and grow their families. I heard the heartache and knew I could help. I went through the steps of donating my eggs, almost. The process was long and we made it to the end, only to find out at age 23 I didn’t have enough eggs to donate. I was told I should freeze the remainder of my eggs, all 10 of them if we wanted more children. We weren’t done at 2 kids, we always imagined 4. 6 months after this news, after the heartache and the decision to not freeze my eggs, 2 out of 10 of my eggs became a set of twins in my womb. 10 weeks later we lost one of them, and 24 weeks after that at 34 weeks pregnant we delivered a precious 4lb baby boy named Lincoln with a very rare skin condition. Man told us we couldn’t have any more children, God told man, Watch.
We lived in Colorado when Lincoln was born. Hot, Dry and not a place to grow up with ichthyosis- his skin condition. His body does not have the ability to sweat, and when it gets too hot his skin cracks and bleeds. My husband prayed and applied for a job in Washington State, where the temperature is always perfect and has a good level of humidity. 2 weeks after he applied for the job we found ourselves moving across country leaving everything we knew, providing Lincoln a state that he could live a happy joyful life.
Lincoln has one of the best pediatric Dermatologist in the country. He has also has special bathtub that exfoliates his skin.
His type of Ichthyosis is called Bathing Suit Ichthyosis, in literature this type is 1 out of 1 million.
After scrolling on facebook on our ichthyosis support group page, a beautiful smile appeared with the name Honey. A little girl in China. In that moment God told me “4,” I stared at her precious face and knew someday she would find her way to our Arms. We always knew we would have 4 children, but after losing lincolns twin and having an emergency hysterectomy at 26 I didn’t ever see that coming to light. But God is light and he showed me our number 4.
She is also 1 in a million and has bathing suit ichthyosis. We can’t wait to provide her with the same life we are giving Lincoln.
Honey has lived in the walls of an orphanage in China since she was a day old. 6 years later she gets to have a family, a sister, an older brother and a little brother who shares the same gene with her. Please consider donating to our adoption, to brining this sweet girl home.
