Hello dear ones!
Thank you for your interest in our adoption story! We are so excited to announce that we have been awarded a $3,000 matching adoption grant from a church in our area, The Creek, in partnership with Lifesong for Orphans. This means your donations up to $3,000 will be matched while we try to reach our fundraising goal of $10,000.
Our journey to adoption:
Even before we were married, we had adoption on our hearts. We have always hoped it would be a part of our family’s story and we are excited to see a dream fulfilled!
While we are thrilled about this adoption, our journey has not always been an easy one. We have ridden the emotional rollercoaster called infertility for over three years now and on Easter 2017 we experienced the loss of our beloved child, Oliver “Ollie” Enoch Vance, to miscarriage. While we hope that someday God may choose to bless us with additional biological children, we have personally chosen not to pursue any fertility treatments. We believe it is His will for us to adopt and we are excited to grow our family in this way!
To us, adoption is a beautiful picture of the Gospel. Just as Jesus is the bridge for us to be welcomed into the family of God, adoption is a way to bring a child into a forever family. While not every individual or family is called to adopt, we can all be used by God to help set the lonely into families (Psalm 68:6).
Where we are in the process:
In January we started working with Bethany Christian Services to pursue a domestic infant adoption. We have finished our home study and our 30 education credits. We’re setting up our nursery and creating a profile book that will be shown to expectant parents once we “go live.” We have also been saving for the cost of the adoption which is around $30,000.
The process of adoption requires that we step out in faith and be stretched in ways that are outside of our comfort zone. We are so thankful that we have the means to provide for a child’s daily needs, but the reality is that there is a substantial amount of money needed to bring this child home.
We are so grateful for the support we have already received from so many. From baby items and financial gifts to big hugs and congratulations—your prayers, encouragement, emotional support, and tangible help have meant the world to us. Thank you for investing in our family and for considering being a part of this special opportunity. Please continue to keep us, our baby, and the birth family in your prayers.
With love and thanks,
Will & Meg J
